In 1987an Emergency Health Care Needs study found a greater need for sexual assault services in Hastings & Prince Edward County. In 1990 a group of local women, formed a committee to raise the funds for sexual assault services. Then in June 1991, The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District officially began operation, providing sexual assault services and supports.
